THE COMPANY
CIAS was incorporated in 1959, with the aim of providing an efficient service to meet the growing demands of the mechanical engineering sector. Operating in a market that continues to evolve, the company has expanded its range of products over the years, in terms of quality and quantity alike, to the point where customers today have access to more than 20,000 tonnes of stock taking in 26 different types of steel. The CIAS philosophy has always been based on an ability to offer a flexible and precise response to the needs of the market, assured by professional organization and a comprehensive product range. Special care is given to the quality of the products distributed, relying on the benefits of specific experience and a long history of collaboration with major Italian and European steel producers.
In a move to speed up its order processing and inventory capabilities, CIAS decided in 1995 to invest significant financial and organizational resources on a completely automated management system, installing an automatic vertical store of 12,000 tonnes capacity, unique in its field. Offering fully traceable and therefore certifiable products, a generous range of quality materials and a constant commitment to customer satisfaction, CIAS has become a leading distributor of special and stainless steels, and an accredited supplier to top European manufacturers. Thanks to a cutting department equipped with automatic machines and robotized cutting centres, the company can accommodate specific requests for materials cut to any size, from single items to large volumes — in short, a tailor-made service that also brings the customer immediate and considerable savings, since little or no scrap is generated.
CIAS operates from premises of 14,000 m2 and, in addition to the cutting department, has at its disposal the most modern and effective handling equipment, including 27 overhead travelling cranes of 6 to 20 tonnes capacity, 19 electronic weighing machines, quality control instruments and a demagnetizing tunnel. The process of corporate expansion and transformation has been carried forward in recent years with the aim in view of creating a lean and efficient organization, always ready to oblige its customers whatever their needs and preferences.
